Further Reflections on Ukraine
What has been most strange to me about this whole crisis is the reporting. I saw an article titled “Russian invasion of Ukraine could lead to mass casualties”. What the heck? An invasion of literally anywhere could lead to mass casualties. If I assembled a private army and invaded the country of Brunei, it would be safe to wager that would lead to ‘mass casualties’. Our wars have been such low casualty affairs, that people have actually forgotten that wars kill people (or at least they’re supposed to). People nowadays see wars as an economic cost, they are but they are also a human cost. That’s right, we are so privileged that we don’t view war as an incessantly violent affair. Odd, that is.
Meanwhile, Mr. Mark Milley said that if Russia does a full scale invasion of Ukraine, the capital could fall in 72 hours with 4,000 Russian casualties and 15,000 Ukrainian casualties. How come this prediction is so precise? Did they estimate how many troops are stationed in the route that Russian forces could take from Belarus to Kiev, decide a certain percentage of them would become casualties and then say this number, or is there some other method to determine this? I don’t understand. How could Milley1 possibly know how long it would take for Kiev to fall? Sure, it’s within striking distance of a Belorussian-Russian army but Ukraine would surely fight to the death over the city, would it not? Ukraine isn’t a country of cowards.
(Volodomyr Zelenskyy posing as Staff-Sergeant Hardarse over here… What a tool!… If he really needed a helmet, why isn’t the soldier behind him wearing one?)
Anyways, I wrote that stuff a few weeks ago but in the latest (February 17th, Thursday, 2022) sh!t has hit the fan. The Ukrainian military has claimed that pro-Russian militias in Eastern Ukraine (the epicentre of the violence) shelled them. The Kremlin said Ukraine started it. Things are moving fast now. Presumably Ukraine is preparing for a major conflict, maybe not. And now, on February 18 Russia is conducting nuclear drills. YIKES! If I were the head of the Ukrainian military now would be a good time to pick out a town on the Polish-Ukrainian or Byelorussian-Ukrainian border to regroup at once Kiev falls. I do wonder, will Ukraine fight to the death for Kiev? I would assume there would be a high rate of desertion and surrender on both sides. People have family in both countries, will they truly fight each other on the whim of their country? After all, your family comes before your government.
I hope the readers will leave a comment below, I’m curious as to what others think of this business.\
And also, he and his goons predicted that Kabul would fall in months, not in weeks. I think he might be an idiot.
